Obituary for Carl Lewis Barnhart

Carl Lewis  Barnhart
Carl Lewis Barnhart, 66, of Beckley, WV passed away surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer on December 25, 2022.

He is survived by his daughter, Kayla Fitch (Scott) of Cabin Creek, and his granddaughter Kennedy; step grandchildren, Zach, Hailee, Ralphie, Faith, and Gunner; sisters, Naomi Jean Redlich (John) of Hampstead, NC, Ruby Tufts of Raleigh, NC, brother, Jack Barnhart (Connie) of Beckley, WV, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born in Montgomery on February 14, 1956, to the late Charles and Bessie Lavender Barnhart.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Barnhart and his siblings John Barnhart and Ruth Diane Barnhart.

In his early days, Carl was an accomplished basketball player. He played four years at Montgomery High School and went on to play at the college level. He married his high school sweetheart, Patty and the two enjoyed life together as avid Mountaineer Fans. His love for his girls; wife Patty, daughter Kayla, and granddaughter Kennedy was evident in everything that he did. Carl also loved traveling to visit ballparks and trout streams, golfing, and collecting sports memorabilia. He recently retired from the WV Military Authority.

Visitors will be received from 4-6 on January 3, at River Ridge Church, Charleston, WV with a celebration of life to follow.
