Obituary for Carlos A. "Old School" Avery

Carlos A. Avery 77 of Montgomery went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018 following an extended illness. He was born July 18, 1940 in Carbondale, WV to the late Retta Blair and Eugene Avery.

Carlos loved fishing and hunting and was well known by his nickname, “Old School”.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters; Marion Gravely, Dorothy Tucker, Bernice Easton, Vivian Jones, brothers; Robert Avery, Warren Farrow, Eugene Avery, and step-father Willie Blair.

He is survived by his devoted sister and caregiver Wilona Blair of Montgomery, WV., Thomasina Fairfax of Powellton, WV, Lonnie Avery of Philadelphia, PA. Jacqueline Blair of Charleston, WV, Cathy Erby Blair of Columbus, OH., brother; Melvin Shelton of Philadelphia, PA., two special nephews; Lamont Anderson, Jermaine Fairfax, special great nieces; Paris Fairfax, Lenise Avery, and Denise Fields.

Friends may call from noon till 1PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Service will be at 1PM with Rev. William I. Kinney officiating. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
