Obituary for Charles Ray Welch, Sr

Charles Ray Welch Sr. age 73 of Kanawha Falls went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2014. He was born November 4, 1941 in Montgomery and was the son of the late Albert "Buddy" and Bertie Anderson Welch. He was also preceded in death by his baby daughter Belinda Welch and brothers Paul, Robert, Edward and Albert.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Phyllis Welch; sister Margaret "Marg" McClellan of Montgomery; brother Frances "Fran" and his wife Mary of Charleston and Glenn and his wife Teresa of Cotton Hill; grand-children Jared and wife Lindsey of Tennessee, Caitlin of Colorado, and Courtney of Gauley Bridge; Great-grandson Jaxon of Tennessee and many nephews and nieces. He also will be missed by his dogs, Missy and Daisy and many friends and family.

Charles was a graduate of Montgomery High School and retired as Special Conservational officer with the WVDNR in which he managed the Kanawha Falls fishing area for 18 years. He also worked as an electrician for Union Carbide coal mines and a former foreman for Revere Copper and Brass of Detroit.
He enjoyed spending time deer hunting with his sons and grandchildren. He loved taking scenic photographs of flowers and wild life.

Service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ in Montgomery with Rev. Frank Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Visitation for friends and family will be on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the church.
