Obituary for Eli Wallace Jr.

Eli Wallace Jr. 88 of Boomer, West Virginia was born August 22, 1928 and bid this world farewell on September 9, 2016. Eli was born in Carbondale, West Virginia to the late Georgia Bean Wallace and Eli Wallace Sr.

At an early age Eli was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Carbondale. Eli was the husband of the late Mary Ida Wallace.

Eli spent most of his life in the Carbondale, Smithers, and Boomer area. He was employed as a coal miner for 44 years. Eli was a member of Bright Hope Lodge # 9.

Left to cherish fond memories are his children: Cynthia (James) Kearney, Michael (Virginia) Wallace, Sylvia Huggins, and Cheryl Wallace all of Pennsylvania; Dorethea Womack of Charleston, Toni Wallace of South Charleston, Traletta Wallace of Boomer, Aileen Wallace McKnight of South Charleston, Loretta Wallace of Boomer, Calvin (Roslyn) Wallace, Gregory (Kim) Wallace all of Montgomery, Marsha Boykins of Washington D.C., Shirl Ann Lewis of Beckley, and Lorena (Gordon) Mitchell of Smithers, Grandchildren: Sonya (John) Womack White, William (Johanna) Wallace, April (Uno) Mitchell, Ashia (Bryant) Early, Mita Breckenridge, Derek (Jennifer) Terry, Zachary Wallace, Richard Boykins, Deandre Fruit, Tierra Boykins, Ashea Booth, Dan Lewis Jr., Gordon Mitchell II, Steven Mitchell, Maya Wallace, Gregory Boyd, Timothy Wallace, Monique Wallace, Jennifer Wallace, Dorian Wallace, Ryan Wallace, Alyssa Wallace, Harold (Gina) Huggins III, Tiffinee (Ramakumar) Huggins, Brandon (Sarah) Huggins, Anthony Wallace Jr., Laura Wallace, Abraham Bolde and Ibrahani Bolde: a host of great grandchildren; sister Ruby Fairfax, and host of nieces and nephews referring to him as Uncle June.

Eli was preceded in death by his parents and Eli and Georgia Wallace; wife Mary Ida Wallace; sisters Lillie M. Webb and Elizabeth Royster; brother Claude Wallace; and children Anthony Wallace, Wanda Boyd, Jacqueline Wallace, Steve Galloway; and grandson Mike Wallace

Service will be at 11:30am Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William I. Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Gardens, Glasgow. The viewing will take place one hour prior to service.
