Obituary for Florence Jean Sheely

Florence Jean Sheely, 86, of Montgomery stepped into Glory in the presence of an Almighty God on July 21, 2017 at CAMC General Hospital after an extensive 19 years on dialysis.

Florence was born on April 3, 1931 in Carbondale, WV. She attended school in Atlantic City, NJ. She worked in the housekeeping department at Laird Memorial Hospital in Montgomery, WV; now known as Montgomery General Hospital.

Florence was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Longacre (later known as First Baptist Church of Smithers), where she served with joy as an usher and kitchen worker for many years.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren (23), great grandchildren (36) and great-great grandchildren (4). She adored family reunions and dancing all night. She is now doing her victory dance in heaven.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, James Sheely Sr., sons; James Sheely, Jr., David Sheely, and brother Gus Johnson.

Florence leaves behind sons; Minister Zachary L. Sheely of Flint, MI., Pastor Bernard (Annette) Sheely of Rand, Benjamin M. Sheely, and Patrick A. Sheely of Montgomery, daughters; Dora (Alfonzo) Dalton of Greensboro, NC, Sandra (Bernard) Pates of Charleston/Rand, Marsha Hopkins, Scott Depot, brother; Arthur (AJ) Johnson of Oak Park, MI., sisters; Ruth Byard of Atlantic City, NJ., Brenda (Vivian) Shaw of Oak Park, MI., special cousins; Pam, Cicily, and Donald Johnson all of Cannelton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A special thank you to the KCEAA paramedics and staff for the excellent care shown to Mom during her transports these last three and a half years, and a very special thank you to KCEAA paramedics Stacy and Larry for your exceptional and outstanding care of our Mom in her last moments here on earth. Dr. Hossino, Dr. Espiritu, Dr. Laure Marino, Gentiva Home Health Agency Nurses and Therapists and Davita Dialysis staff for the extraordinary care and kindness shown to Mom. CAMC General Hospital and staff for the wonderful, exceptional care, Sandra Pates, Loving daughter and caregiver and grandson David Pates, for the abundance of love and excellent care given to Mom the past three and a half years.

A celebration of life service will be held July 29, 2017 at noon at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Bernard Sheely and Minister Zachary Sheely officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
