Obituary for Guy Thomas Carelli
Guy Thomas Carelli age 92 of Charleston formally of London died January 15, 2015. He was born October 2, 1922 in Smithers and was the son of the late Tom and Hallie Carelli. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Josephine Carelli, two sons Guy Francis and Thomas Eugene Carelli and six brothers.
Guy was retired from Semet-Solvay at Harwood, was a member of the UMWA, a Navy veteran serving during WWII and was awarded a Victory Metal, he was a long time past member of Hawks Nest Country Club. He was also a member of the St. Anthony's Shrine/Immaculate Conception Parish at Boomer and Montgomery. Guy loved to golf, joke and dance.
Surviving are his daughters, Dianne Long and her husband James Jr. of Charleston, Linda Carelli and her husband Robert Newberg of Westfield, NJ and Mary Jo Carelli of Huntsville, AL; 8 grandchildren Doug Long, Mary Beth Church, Jeff Long, Carol Lynn Wilson, Kristina Kuhlken, Brittany Blanco, Josh Newberg and Rachel Newberg and Ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank staff of Hospice Care for their compassionate care especially Jennifer Stephens and Marilyn Giblens.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Anthony's Shrine Catholic Church at Boomer with Fr. Mark Gallipeau as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:00 PM.
