Obituary for John Edward Thompson Sr.

John Edward Thompson Sr. age 66 of Montgomery died April 24, 2013. He was born July 14, 1946 in Smithers and he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Cecil Jewel Carver Thompson Sr.

He was a Christian and attended different churches in the area and he was retired from Elkem Metals at Alloy. He was a ten year survivor of a heart transplant done in Pittsburgh. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a 1963 graduate of Montgomery High School where he was known as a football player and an avid athlete. He was a basketball coach at Pratt Elementary for 7 years.

Surviving: wife Sandy Moss Thompson; children John Edward Thompson Jr. and his wife Angelia of Boomer, Phillip Stephen Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jason Paul Thompson of Montgomery; brothers Robert Thompson and his wife Terri, Richard Thompson and his wife Bonnie, Jimmy Thompson and wife Guopin, Don Thompson and his wife April, Billy Thompson and his wife Marca, Joey Thompson and his wife Theresa; sisters Loretta and husband Ray Mullins, Tina and husband George Frantz; grandchildren Jordyn, Javin and Jersey.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Rock Wills officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call from 6 PM to 9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
