Obituary for Mary Josephine Carelli

Mary Josephine Carelli age 90 of Charleston formally of London died October 24, 2014. She was born December 21, 1923 in Smithers and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Paterno Criniti. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Guy Francis Carelli and Thomas Eugene Carelli.

Mary was a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology with an Associates of Science in Nursing. She was employed by Montgomery General Hospital as a switchboard operator from 1944 until 1972. From 1972 she was a nurse at Montgomery General and retired as a supervising nurse. She was a retired plant nurse at Elkem Metals at Alloy. She was a member of the St. Anthony's Shrine/Immaculate Conception Parish at Boomer and Montgomery.

Surviving are her husband Guy Carelli; daughters, Dianna Long and her husband James Jr. of Charleston, Linda Carelli and her husband Robert Newberg of Westfield, NJ and Mary Jo Carelli of Huntsville, AL; 8 grandchildren Doug Long, Mary Beth Church, Jeff Long, Carol Lynn Wilson, Kristina Kuhlken, Brittany Blanco, Josh Newberg and Rachel Newberg and Ten great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank staff of Hospice Care for their compassionate care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Anthony's Shrine Catholic at Boomer with Monsignor Anthony Cincinnati as Celebrant and Con-Celebrants Fr. Leon Alexander and Fr. Mark Gallipeau. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:00 PM.
