Obituary for Maureen Edwards Given

Maureen Edwards Given age 75 of Morris Dr., Montgomery went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2014. She was born March 30, 1939 in Montgomery and she was the daughter of the late Gomer "Moon" and Bessie Robinson Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Hobart A. Given, son Jason Bryan Given and brothers Benny Edwards and William "Billy" Edwards.

Maureen was a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Morris Drive. She retired from West Virginia Tech after a number of years and also worked in Montgomery at both G. C. Murphy's and Mayfield Groceries.

She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a woman of God and loved her Church and her church family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children James Given and his wife Kim of Kimberly, Joseph Given of Montgomery and Michelle Given Hudson of Montgomery; grandchildren Tyler Given, Austin Given, Alexis Wood, Andrew Wood and Jodie Given; step-grandchildren Mary Ann Summers, Amanda Bryant and Shae Wood; step-great grandchild Kingston Wood. Also surviving are her siblings her twin sister Lorene Hudnall and her husband Del of Montgomery, Phyllis Welch and her husband Chuck of Falls View, Tandra McGraw and her husband Tom of Smithers ; Tammy Prete and her husband Louie of Fayetteville; brothers Maurice Edwards and his wife Arvada of Ansted and Roy Edwards and his wife Joyce of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-laws Doris Edwards, Joyce Edwards and Hildra Grey and brother-in-law Harold Given; Maureen hand many loved nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Maureen requested in writing for this Passage to be written:
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that loved his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ on Morris Drive, Montgomery with Pastor Frank Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday at the church.
