The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Minnie Davenport can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dear Family of Mother Minnie Davenport: We have not ceased to pray for the comforting care of the Lord to envelop you during this difficult time. During times like these we need a savior, during times like these we need the Lord. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy as we mourn with you the passing of your loved one. Mother Davenport was a faithful and loving lady, and was the mother of our Fraternity brother, Jule Davenport, and Jules’ siblings are our dear friends. Be it resolved the Gamma Lambda Alumni Association (West Virginia Tech) of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., encourages the family of Mother Davenport this Second Day of May in the Two Thousand and Twentieth Year of our Lord with these words: Just as Jesus wept at the grave of His friend Lazarus, know that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Though our morning may not have arrived yet, we know when Mother Davenport closed her eyes for the last time, she woke up in the presence of the Lord to the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:23) Mother Davenport has fought the good fight, she has kept the faith, she has finished her course, and she has received her crown of righteousness. However, family and friends, we must continually seek to redeem the time we have, to be the most effective we can be and most importantly keep Jesus Christ as the center of all we do. God Bless You, /s/ Bobby L. Robinson Bobby L. Robinson Chaplain & The Gamma Lambda Alumni Association Brotherhood
