Obituary for Phyllis Sampson

Phyllis J. Sampson age 80 died peacefully September 14, 2014 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Elswick and Marie Parrish, her loving husband Elias Sampson Jr, and a son Larry W. Sampson. Phyllis was formerly of Powellton but since the death of her husband two years ago has lived with her daughter Betty Shafer and her husband Jerry in Marietta, OH.

Phyllis was a former cook for Monty's Restaurant and work in the dietary department at Montgomery Hospital and also a cook at Ginos Pizza. Phyllis was also a member of the womens auxiliary at the Faternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1040 in Montgomery.

She is survived by her sons; Joe Sampson and his wife Kay of Powellton, Randy Sampson and his wife Debbie of Falls View; daughters; Barbara Bolinger and her husband James of Vienna, WV, Sherry Nicholas and her husband Rodney of Sutton, WV; step-father Hershal Parrish of Charleston. 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Toney of Danese and Betty hunt of Winfield and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Greg Toney and Rev. Rodney Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call 6 PM to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
