Obituary for Selena Mae Walker

Selena Mae Walker, 69, of Deep Water departed this life on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born June 14, 1945 in Deep Water and was the daughter of the late Will and Dorothy Timberlake Banks. She was also preceded in death by her husband Clifford Walker Sr. with whom she was united in marriage on May 20, 1985 and brother Thomas Henry Banks Sr.

She was known affectionately to her family and close friends as “Butter” or “Lena”. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Kimberly where she served as Mission President and a member of the wings of Mercy Choir. She was a faithful and compassionate home health care worker. She will forever be remembered for her smile and her humming.

She leaves to morn her memory, her brothers; James Banks Sr. and Lin Banks of Deep Water, Will Banks and his wife Willie of University Heights, OH; sisters Shirley White of Kimberly, Dora McKawy and her husband Kahli of West Lake, OH, Christine Thomas and her husband John of Mitchellville, MD, Barbara Hunafa of Reynoldsburg, OH, Phyllis King and her husband Charles, Velma Newman and Roxie Gooch and her husband Harold, all of Deep Water; her special aunts Mary Banks of Deep Water and Thelma Henson of Beltsville, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Kimberly, Kimberly with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of the arrangements.
