Obituary for Stephen Franklin "Steve" Baker

Stephen Franklin "Steve"  Baker
Stephen Franklin Baker, 68, of Smithers, WV., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at his home. He was born October 26, 1954. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen Scott Baker and his father Paul Franklin Baker of Smithers.

He is survived by his wife Julie Baker of Smithers, daughter Amber Hess (Thomas) of Charlton Heights, son Travis Baker (Kristi) of Cross Lanes, and Tony Naylor of Smithers. Steve also had six grandchildren, Hunter and Austin Hess, Kayleigh, Kolton, and Kelsey Baker, and Justin Naylor. Brother Michael Baker (Gladys) of Smithers, and his mother of 94 years, Dolores Alexander Baker of Smithers.

Steve graduated from Montgomery High School and was employed by Elkem Metals/WVA Manufacturing in Alloy where he eventually retired.

Steve enjoyed coaching little league baseball, hunting with all of his buddies, hanging out with his family and making people laugh. He never missed an activity that his grandchildren participated in. From football, basketball, soccer, golf, and going to dance recitals and parades. Steve was always there. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 7 p.m. at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery with Pastor Jeff Floyd officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
