Obituary for Jimmie Ellen Oliver

Jimmie Ellen Oilver, 90, of Canelton passed away October 31, 2011. She was born July 16, 1921 in Cannelton and was the daughter of James and Ida Johnson Flint. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Oliver, grandparents Charles and Iva Flint, brother, Chares “Fuzzy” Flint; sisters, Margaret Dunlavy and Gloria Conley and also a granddaughter Cathy Ann Abell.
Jimmie was a member of Carbondale Baptist Church for over 60 years, a Sunday School teacher for 54 years, Church Clerk for 13 years and also participated in many other church activities. Surviving are her children, Donna Young of Handley and Mike Oliver and his wife Kay of Cannelton; sister, Lena Doles of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Shawn Oliver, John Robert Oliver, Richard Abell, David Abell, Mary Rose Canterbury and her husband Kevin, and Barbara Ann Myers and her husband Mike; great grandchildren, Johnny Ray, Greyson, Kayleigh, Justin, Faith, Lawson, Jenna, Luke, and Korey; and also a her lifelong best friend Genave Reid of Cannelton. The family would like to thank the staff at Montgomery Elderly Care for the loving care to our mother and grandmother.
Funeral Service will be 11 AM Thursday November 3, 2011 at Carbondale Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Eagle and Rev. Fred Christian officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Wednesday at the church. O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.
