Herston Eugene Miles age 71 of Powellton died December 23, 2012. He was born August 16, 1941 at McDunn and was the son of the late Herston Albert and Norma Bickford Miles. He was also preceded in death by his brother Norman Douglas Miles.
He was a 12 1/2 year veteran of the US Navy. He was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Powellton United Methodist Church.
Surviving: sons Philip Miles of Pittsburg, PA and David Miles of Huntington; daughter Pat Kikead of Briston, VA; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Sizemore and her husband Austin of Harrisonburg, VA; brother Gregory Miles of Harrisonburg, VA. He was loved by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Service will be 1:00 PM Friday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Joe Darlington officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Montgomery Memorial Park in London. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Mr. Miles estate.
