Obituary for Alfred Fitzgerald Lynch

Alfred “Al” Fitzgerald Lynch age 85 of Boomer, WV passed away Monday morning, January 28, 2013.
Born August 15, 1927 in Milburn, WV to the late John and Margaret Fitzgerald Lynch. He was preceded in death by a son, David and an infant daughter Patricia; brother John, Vincent, Louis and sisters Katherine and Elizabeth.
Al retired from Elkem Metals/Union Carbide in 1987 with 30 years of service. He was a proud United States Marine Corp Veteran having served in central Asia after World War II. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and served two terms as the Grand Knight for Council 3232. He was a scratch golfer and 50 year member of Hawks Nest Country Club, a member of the Kanawha Valley Mining Association, a board member of the Kanawha Falls Public Service District and an active and lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boomer.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Victoria (White) Lynch; son Alfred II and daughter-in-law, Margie of Scott Depot, granddaughter Victoria Lynch of Cranbury, NJ; grandson Brian Lynch of Sunset Beach, NC and Alfred Lynch III of Scott Depot. A sister, Regina Craffey of Charleston, and a brother, Bernard Lynch of Belle. Also special in his life were many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in laws, nieces and nephews. He was a man of faith who loved his family and his Irish heritage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday at St. Anthony's Shrine Catholic Church with Fr. John Rice as Celebrant. Internment will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the church where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 PM.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to Dr. Brad Henry and his staff, Dr. Hames Frame, his nurse Sheila and the staff at David Lee Cancer Center, Pat Elswick, RN at Hospice and Nurses Debbie and Diane at Hubbard House.
