Obituary for Bobbie Bass

Bobbie F. Bass age 78 of Smithers died June 10, 2009 at home. He was born September 4, 1930 at Cabin Creek and was the son of the late William and Marvel Stone Bass. He was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Bass, his brother Kenneth Bass and a sister Francis Burnside.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and he was retired from Central Appalachian Coal Company. He was a former employee of Edelman Contruction Company of Smithers. Bobbie was a member of the Oakland Church of God in Smithers where he was the youth leader in the 1970’s. He coached the Hawks and Marathon Ball teams for the UKV league. He loved his roses, wood working and sharing his baking.
Surviving: daughter Kathy Mobley and her husband Jerry of Woodbridge, VA and Lea Ann Bass and Greg of Mt. Carbon; son Mark Bass of Fayetteville; granddaughter Elizabeth Mobley Stevens; brothers Billy Bass of Powellton, Gene Bass and his wife Donna of LaPlata, MD, Troy Bass and his wife Bessie of Montgomery and Jimmy Bass and his wife Ruth of Kimberly; sister Phyllis Settle of Elkview; very special aunt Elizabeth “Sis” Corbin of Cabin Creek.

Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Oakland Church of God, Smithers with Rev. Robert Vanfossen officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow with Military honors provided by Ansted Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 6 until 9 on Friday at the church.
