Obituary for Carl Forrest Leake

Carl Forrest Leake age 69 of Cannelton died October 7, 2012. He was born July 19, 1943 in Boomer and was the son of the late Carl George and Faye Logan Leake. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Leake and his brothers Bill Craddock and Doyle Logan.
He was retired as a mobile equipment operator for Cannelton Coal Company with over 30 years of service and a member of Local 8843 of the United Mine Workers of America. Carl was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 59th MP Detachment in Brmerhaven, Germany and he was a crew chief on helicopters in Viet Nam. He received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force in Viet Nam and he was also a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his son, Carl R. Leake and his wife Lana of Cannelton and daughter Lynn Proctor and her husband John of Cannelton; step-son, James Keenan and his wife April of Hugheston and step-daughter Jennifer Ford of Scott Depot; sister Patricia Roat and her husband Freddie of Oak Hill, brother, G. Rodney Leake and his wife Kay of Mt. Carbon; niece Lisa Lavender of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Chasiti, Nikki, Brendan, Angel, Justin and Carl Allen and step-grandchildren, Alex, Jordan, Colton, Caleb and Mackenzie and his 59th MP Band of Brothers.
Service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Ron Eagle officiating. Entombment will be in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors.
