Charles Dennis Shawkey age 71 of Boomer died April 9, 2011. He was born December 25, 1939 in Boomer and he was the son of the late Harry and Maizie Hughes Shawkey.
He was retired from Central Appalachian Coal Company and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He attended Boomer Baptist Church.
He was a wonderful Husband and Father and he was always there for his children.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years Judy Shawkey; son Charles D. “Dennie” Shawkey II (Erin) of Boomer and daughter Rebecca Ballard (Donald) of London; grandchildren Charles Dirk Ballard, Cheyenne Danae Ballard and Gianna Grace Shawkey; aunt Martha Kees of Pratt and sister-in-law Elizabeth Poff of Pratt.
Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Boomer Baptist Church with Rev. James Neeson officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
