Obituary for
David Jack Tamplin
David Jack Tamplin, a lifelong resident of Boomer, WVa. He was born July 17, 1928, and was 95 years old. He passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2924.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Dave Tamplin, his mother Ethel Tamplin and his wife of 58 years Lorraine, all of Boomer.
He was a 1946 graduate of Montgomery High School and a 1975 graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery where he received a B.A. Degree.
Jack was a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War serving with the 167th Fighter Squadron and later retired from the 130th Special Operations Squadron, where he was an enlisted Air Crew man with a total of 20 years of service with the AF and WVANG. Jack was always proud of his military service and to be called a Veteran.
He was past state president of the Korean War Veterans Association and a member of the following groups: American Legion, Air Force SGTS Association, Retired WVA Veteran’s Association, KWVA and Professional Load Masters Association.
Jack retired with the Department of Human Services after 26 years where he was a Division Director in the Medicaid Program. He started work with the department in Fayetteville as a Social Worker.
After retirement, he served on the Board of Directors at Montgomery General Hospital and on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Health Department.
Jack was always respectful of others and friendly to all and generous to a fault.
Left to remember Jack are sister-in-law, Louella Armstrong of Mossy WV, Nephew; Scott Armstrong of Mossy WV, Neice; Andrea Armstrong and Grand Niece; Gretchen Dunlap of Bishop Fork WV, several cousins and a host of friends including his cat “Lucky”, and Miss Kitty.
