Dorothy “Dot Mitchell” Fairfax was born in Ward WV on Monday October 7, 1940, and obtained her heavenly rest on Friday October 27, 2023 at Montgomery General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late George Sr and Martha Mitchell.

Dorothy lived and raised her children in Smithers WV and Montgomery WV. She was well known in her community and was dedicated to the upbringing of her children. She was an awesome homemaker and a phenomenal mother, introducing her children to the word of God at tender young ages and taking them to Sunday school and church faithfully. She ensured that her children knew the importance of education and self-reliance. In addition to her own children, Dorothy showed love and compassion to many children in the family and in the community.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Derek Mitchell, her husband Donavon Fairfax and her son Antonio Fairfax, her sisters; Ruby Foster, Katherine Clark, Edith Mitchell and Juanita (Rosie) Mitchell, her brothers; Emmanuel Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, George Mitchell Jr, and Thomas Mitchell Sr., two grandchildren, Zion Mitchell and Leah Morris.
