Obituary for Drema D. Evans

Drema D. Evans, 59 of Montgomery passed away March 22, 2013 of a sudden illness. Drema was preceded in death by her stepfather Henry Smith; sister Mary Jane Smith; grandparents James and Mattie Evans; Aunt Alice and Henry English, Nellie Mae and Charles Evans and Carmen White.

After graduating from Montgomery High School in 1972, she began her longtime career with GC Murphy and Payless Discount Stores in Montgomery. She was a huge WVU Mountaineer and 49er’s fan. She also enjoyed her wrestling on Monday and Friday nights, working her circle word puzzles and soap operas. She never met a stranger and always kept a smile on her face with a contagious laugh that filled the room. She was bigger than life with a personality to match. She will be terribly missed by all that ever knew her, loved her and that ever came in contact with her.

She is survived by her long time companion Alfred “Catman” Coping, mother; Dorothy Smith of Montgomery, Sons; William Tyrone Evans and Chaswick L. White of Montgomery, brothers; Artie White, Gary and wife Carol Evans of Charleston, Larry “Poochie” Evans of Palmetto, CA, Granville “Putt” Smith of Montgomery, Aunt; Beverly Evans of Charleston, Uncle; James “June” Evans of Fayetteville, NC. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that called her Mom.

Service will be 12:00 PM Friday at Eagle Central Missionary Baptist Church at Eagle with Rev. Richard Bullard officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 PM Thursday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Expression of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
