Obituary for Earl Allen Jenkins

Earl Allen Jenkins, age 59, died as a result of an accident on his farm in Spencer WV on Sunday.7/18/10. Allen was the son of Earl E. Jenkins of Smithers and the late Gypsy Louise Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife Belinda and his sister Lois c. Jenkins. He is survived by one son, Earl A. Jenkins Jr. and wife Crystal of Spencer WV, and 2 stepsons Billy Turley and wife Mary of Dunbar WV and Lawrence E. Holbrook of Oak Hill WV. He is survived by two grandchildren Jacqueline Renae and Rebecca Dawn. He is also survived by one brother and 5 sisters.
Allen graduated from Montgomery High School and attended WV State College at Institute WV. He lived most of his adult life in Smithers, WV. He was retired from Elkem Metals in Alloy, WV. He purchased a farm and moved to Spencer WV after his retirement. He enjoyed his farm and caring for his cattle, attending church and spending time with his son and daughter in law. Allen enjoyed meeting up with his friends at the McDonalds in Spencer for coffee and conversation in the mornings. Allen was referred to as Santa Claus by his nieces and nephews because of his long white beard. He was a member of Cherry Valley Church and Good Hope Church, both in Spencer WV. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Wilson Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
