Edith Cavell Perkins Pedro 93 years young of Boomer died May 5, 2012 at home. She was born October 12, 1918 in Boomer and was the daughter of the late John “Booker” and Dessie Mae Nutter Perkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband Virgil Pedro, her son John Virgil Pedro and grandsons Jonathan and J.C. Carnes and son in law Dale Carnes.
She was a wonderful and dedicated wife and mother and she will be greatly missed. She was a lifelong member of the St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church in Boomer.
Surviving are her children Patricia Halsey and her husband Paul of Woodbridge, VA, Charles Pedro and his wife Nugyen of Woodbridge, VA and Sue Carnes of Elkview; grandchildren Diane Clark, Tina Spille, Carmela Peters, John Carnes, JoAnn Gray, Tonya Carnes, Sue Davis and John Pedro; 18 grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
On hehalf of our Mother the family wishes to thank the Staff of Montgomery General Extended Unit of 2nd floor and Hospice, especially Pat and Sandy. Thanks to Dr. Akerberg and Donna and a very special thank you to the Lorea Family especially her niece Mafalda and also a very special thanks to Sue Coon for the loving care she gave our mother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic in Boomer with Fr. John Rice as celebrant. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call from 6 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM.
