Obituary for Erma Eads Smith (Eads)

Erma Eads Smith age 102 of Hansford died September 3, 2014 in Montgomery General Hospital from a short illness. She was born August 21, 1912 in Kimberly, WV and she was the daughter of the late Bert and Bertha Eads. She was also preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Smith; brother Jesse Lee "Jack" Eads and sisters Helen Suffill and Sybil Allison.

Erma was a retired Kanawha County teacher and an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hansford for many years.

Survivors: son Donald Lee Smith and his wife Loretta of Pratt; granddaughter Barbara Higgins and her husband Robert; great grandchildren Stephen Higgins and his wife Katherine, Stefanie Miller and her husband Joshua and Stacie Higgins and great-great grandchildren Michael, Mary and Margaret Higgins all from Richmond, TX; also her niece Virginia Tompakov and Great nephew Mark Cogan; sister-in-law Jean Rollins as well as several cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Montgomery General Hospital and Extended Care for the wonderful care they provided.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hansford with Fr. Stan Holmes and Chaplain Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd; Box 195, Hansford, WV 25103
