Obituary for Eugene Newcomb "Gene" Hess
Eugene N. "Gene" Hess age 84 of Montgomery died on Sunday April 10, 2016 at home. He was born to the late Benjamin and Margaret Huddleston Hess on July 21, 1931 in Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Julia Ann Hess and his daughter Jean Ann Hess.
He was a retired school teacher and coach from Fairfax County Virginia Schools. He was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church of Montgomery. He was a member of the Montgomery Lions Club and was recently presented the Melvin Jones Award. Gene was also a former council member of the city of Montgomery and a veteran of the US Army.
Surviving: wife Edith "Snookie" Emiline Hess; children C. Elaine Lawson and her husband Alfred of Lexington, SC, Amy L. Kohn-Woodson of Fredericksburg, VA, Janice L. Codispoti and her husband Joseph of Ohio and Lou Ann Emiline of Montgomery; eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday at First Christian Church in Montgomery with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey-Cobb Cemetery on Spring Hill Mountain. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 6th Ave. and Ferry St., Montgomery, WV 25136.
