Obituary for Grover L. Brown

Grover L. Brown age 89 of Gallagher went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 28, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Man, WV on January 13, 1924 Grover was the son of the late Don and Ida Perry Brown.
He had two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Irene Johnson Brown and the proud father of four sons; Paul (Denise), Gary (Sondra), John (Holly) and Grover Jr. He was the loving grandfather of Samantha and Kyle. Beloved Uncle and Brother-in-Law to many.
He was the eldest member of the Gallagher Church of the Nazarene which he attended faithfully. Grover worked as a Union Coal Miner for 14 years in Logan County. He moved his family to Chicago IL. in 1959 and worked for the Vapor Corp for 29 years. He retired back to his home state in 1998 where he was an avid gardener. Grover was a decorated combat veteran of WWII proudly serving in the 24th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. Grover loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and touched the lives of many with his strong devotion to God.
His family would like to thank the staffs of the David Lee Cancer center, the infusion center at Memorial Hospital and the Hubbard House Hospice for all their love and care shown to him.
Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday at the Gallagher Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Kevin Walker and Rev. Ervin Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow with Military honors. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery and one hour prior to service at the church. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
