Obituary for Hallie Hastings "Peggy" Patchell

Hallie “Peggy” Hastings Patchell age 83 of Chelyan died August 1, 2009 in Lakeland, Florida. She was born February 14, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Henry “Peck” and Julia Spaulding Hastings. She was also preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Patchell, her infant daughter Anna Jo Patchell; brothers Troy “Peck” Hastings and Jack “Hemo” Hastings.
She was a retired cook for the Kanawha County schools and a 1943 graduate of East Bank High School. She was a member of the Chelyan Church of the Nazarene serving in many capacities her favorites being Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher and Past Missionary President. Missions was her passion for which she diligently collected and recycled aluminum cans to pay for postage to send missionary boxes. She collected old sheets to tear up and roll bandages to put in these boxes along with old prescription medications bottles we all saved for her.
Surviving: daughter Kathy Lewis of Hansford; son William “Rusty” and his wife Bonnie of Lakeland, FL; grandsons Timothy Massey of Hansford and Billy “Ryan” Patchell and his wife Jenny of Campbells Creek; granddaughter Amanda Jo Patchell of Dunbar; sister-in-law Mary Lou Hastings of Dry Branch; several nieces and nephews and her church family at Chelyan Church of the Nazarene.
Her body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry at Marshall University.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at the Chelyan Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Daniel Saylor and Rev. Dan Williams officiating.
