Obituary for Harry D "Sonny" Cottrell

Harry David “Sonny” Cottrell passed away February 5, 2012 at CAMC Memorial Division following a long illness. Sonny was born December 6, 1929, in Smithers, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry T. and Margaret Hypes Cottrell three brothers, Jack Cottrell, Ray Cottrell, and Donald Cottrell; one sister, Mary Margaret Jones, and one granddaughter, Lori Ann Bostic.
Sonny was an employee of Elkem Metals for over forty years. He lived in the Smithers area all of his life and was a well-loved friend and neighbor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Sonny is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Juanita Belle Boyd Cottrell, two sisters, Agnes Bond and husband Ron of Merritt Island, Florida and Deanna Montgomery and husband John of St. Petersburg , Florida; four daughters, Lynn Holstine and late husband Michael of Fayetteville, Rosemary Bostic and husband Michael of Ansted, Becky Toney and partner Larry Coleman of Kimberly, Lou Ann Peters and partner Jerry Moore of Montgomery; two sons, Duwane Cottrell and wife Tracie of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and David Cottrell and wife Beth of Kimberly.
Also surviving are grandchildren; Christina Moore and husband Keith of Kingstree, South Carolina, Brian Belmont and wife Lisa of Tom River, New Jersey, Kelly Crist and husband Kevin of Ansted, Matthew Bostic and wife Janice of Hilton Village, Jamie Peters of Boomer, Nathan Copeland of Boomer, Breanian Cottrell and Cortneh Cottrell of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Megan Cottrell and Hallie Cottrell of Kimberly; great grandchildren; Lydia Moore, Noah and Savannah Belmont, Seth Carte, Abbie Bostic, Joey and Autumn Crist, Ian and Evelyn Bostic, Arabella Peters, and Taylor Falbo; also left behind to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be 11 AM Friday February 10 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
