Obituary for Herbert Hoover Nickoson

Herbert H. Nickoson age 84 of Montgomery formerly of Cannelton died November 4, 2012 at CAMC Memorial after a long illness. He was born June 30, 1928 in Cannelton and was the son of the late Pearl and Bessie Starkey Nickoson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Jacqueliine Picarella Nickoson, his granddaughter Angela Nickoson, his sister Virginia Titus, brothers Edward, Charles, William and Robert Nickoson.
Herb was a retired coal miner from Central Appalachian Coal Company and also a retired EMT from Valley Ambulance Service. He was a coach for the Montgomery Little Rockets and a veteran of the US Army and he was a member of the Aier 1040 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Montgomery.
Surviving: daughters Sue Whitt and her husband Ernie of Mt. Carbon and Peggy Querry of Cannelton; sons Herbie Nickoson and his wife Cheryl of Homa, LA, Mike Nickoson and his wife Darlene of St. Albans and Tommy Nickoson of Montgomery; sister Betty Bainbridge of Powellton; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
His family would like to thank all the staff and doctors of the CCU at CAMC Memorial for their excellent care and the kindness they gave our dad and his family.
Service will be 1:00 PM Saturday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Ollie Parson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow.
