Obituary for Herman L. Skaggs

Herman L. Skaggs of Glen Ferris and South Charleston was born on May 13, 1926 and passed away July 16, 2009 a the age of 83 after a short illness. He was a life long resident of the Upper Kanawha Valley having been born in Jodie to the late Scott and Bertha Koontz Skaggs. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife Elouise Fullen Skaggs formerly of Union and their daughter Sharon Skaggs Kennedy.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces, a 1948 graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology and a member of the Gauley Bridge Lodge # 64 AF & AM. He was the owner of the former D & D Ford Motors in Smithers and a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church in South Charleston. He loved woodworking, remolding antiques, traveling and had his private pilots license.
Surviving: wife Mildred Marcum Skaggs and his son H. Lee Skaggs and his wife Michelle; grandchildrern Nolen and Carlin Skaggs and Terry Kennedy and his wife Sarah; great-grandchildren Riley and Joshua Kennedy.
Service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Rest Lawn Memory Gardens at Victor. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com.
