Jack B. Hale, Sr. age 91 of Hansford died October 29, 2009 at home . He was born in Tazewell County, VA and was the son of the late William and Virginia Brown Hale. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Dorothy Ramey Hale and four brothers Charles William, Clarence, Pat and Bob Hale.
He was a member of the Montgomery Presbyterian Church. Jack was a sergeant in the United States Army 29th division during WWII and received the Purple Heart on Omaha Beach.
Surviving: children Virginia Hale Harmer and her husband Bill, Jack B. Hale, Jr. and his wife Dianna and Annette Hale Adkins and her husband Kirk; one sister Laura Lee Roebuck; sister-in-laws Ethel Hale and Hilma Hale both of Grundy, VA; grandchildren Christopher Harmer, Ryan Harmer, Allison Harmer Kell, Brad L. Madison II, Sara Jade Morton, Amanda Hale Hughes and Tucker Chase Morton; six great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 5, 2009 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Fr. Stan Holmes officiating and Lucretia “Lula” Scalise as eulogist.
