Obituary for James Richmond Dorsey

Mr. James Richmond Dorsey, passed away October 17, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his family. James was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned a Purple Heart from the United States Army, after his time in the service he worked then retired as a coal miner. He was born and raised in Fayette County, where he spent most of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; son, Dale; and granddaughter, Christy Dawn.

Mr. Dorsey is survived by his four children, Karen Adkins of W.Va., Dianna Moore of S.C., Lucy Simpson and husband, Allen of W.Va., Tommy Dorsey and wife, Martha of S.C. and Alyssa Simpson (great-granddaughter) whom he raised and loved as his own. His grandchildren Kimberly Lefler and husband, Cletus, Bobby Moore II and wife, Maria, Tommy Dorsey (TJ) and wife, Margret, Josh Simpson and fiancé, Christi, Tyler Dorsey, Avery Adkins and Brenda Postlewaite; great-grandchildren, Megan Leake and husband, Thomas, Alston Butler, Tyler and Cody Lefler, Bobby III and Cody Moore, Emily, Amaris, Alleora and, Ethaniel Dorsey and Jaelyn Slaven; great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Liam Leake and Bobby Moore IV.

Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Private burial will follow at Wiseman Cemetery, Mt Olive.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with final expenses.
