Obituary for John Joseph Bobinski

John Joseph Bobinski “Jack Caldo” age 79 of Charlton Heights died March 26, 2012. He was born June 7, 1931 in Patterson, NJ and was the son of the late Edward and Gladys Caldo Bobinski. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and high school sweetheart Arlene Ann Bobinski.
He was a member of St Anthony’s Shrine /Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Boomer and Montgomery where he had formerly served as Lector. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a cryptographer stationed in the Philippines. After leaving the service John attended broadcasting school in Colorado where he became Jack Caldo on the air. Jack’s first major job in broadcasting began in Weston, WV where he and Arlene lived for 11 years before moving to Charlton Heights, WV. Jack was General Manager of WMON-1340 AM until his retirement. He retired from Radio with 37 years of service as Jack Caldo from WMON and WCHS Radio. After retiring from radio he also had been employed at Allied Barton Securities for 10 years. Jack had been a member of the Montgomery Lions Club.
Surviving: wife of 18 years, Esther Paschal Bobinski; children Jay Lawrence Bobinski of Raleigh, NC, Steve Patrick Bobinski and his wife Shannon of Tillman Corners, AL and Laureen Marie Hair and her husband Randy of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren Matthew Randolph Hair and Bethany Loren Hair; step-childrren Nathan Kendrick and his wife Mary of Cannelton and Lorie McMillion and her husband Terry of Kimberly; step-grandchildren Camron Kendrick, Peyton Kendrick, Braydon Kendrick, Faith McMillion, T.J. McMillion, Joshua McMillion, Lane Smith and Railey Smith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church with Fr. John and Rice and Fr. Leon Alexander as Co-Celebrants. Entombment will be at a later day in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to service at the church.
