Obituary for John Marty

On January 29, 2017, John Marty, 92, received his promotion from worship leader on earth to singing the praises of his Savior, Jesus Christ, with the saints around the throne.

He was born March 8, 1924. He was the son of the late Charles Marty, Sr. and Mary Sharp Marty Swank and his stepfather CB Swank. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Farmer, Elva Sigmon, and Nellie Lambert; two brothers, Charles Marty Jr. and Willie Marty.

John loved to tell the story of how he fell in love at first sight with his doll face and married her 45 years ago.

Left to cherish his memory is "the love of his life " Theda Jean Stanley Marty.

He is survived by his sister, Beulah Marty Lawrence and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to especially thank his church family, The Church of Jesus Christ at Morris Creek, for the many years of their outpouring of love.

A gathering of friends and family will be Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 12PM to 2PM at The Church of Jesus Christ at Morris Creek. Funeral service will follow at 2PM with the Rev. Frank Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.
