Obituary for John Lewis Smith Jr.
Mr. John L. “June” Smith Jr., 66, of Montgomery went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. He was born on November 11, 1949 in Montgomery, WV; he was the son of the
late John “Jack” and the late Ollie Mayfield Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry L. Mayfield and his sister Janet M. Smith.
He was baptized at early age, living his life in Christian faith and beliefs. He received his schooling in the Fayette County school system. He served his country during Vietnam War in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 16, 1970. Mr. Smith worked various industries throughout his career; he finally retired from KNB Mold, in Daytona, OH.
Left to cherish precious memories are his daughters, Leslie (Fred) Watkins of Detroit, MI, Melissa Zile, of Dayton, OH, and Maggie Zile of Las Vegas NV ; sisters: Constance Ann Toney, of Beckley, WV, Pandora (AL) Peoples of Columbus, OH, Donna (Gary) Smith of Dunbar, WV, Mary Smith of Charleston, WV, Maxine Coats of Kimberly and Pamela Smith of Deepwater, WV; brothers: James (Sandra) Smith of Montgomery, WV, Charles Smith of Deepwater, WV, Samuel (Chris) Smith of Powellton, WV, Calvin and Melvin Smith of Beckley, WV; 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and host of special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Essie Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Haven Cemetery, Ingram Branch with Military Honors. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
