Rev. John Thomas Syner age 68 of Powellton died November 7, 2010. He was born June 19, 1942 and was the son of the late George and America Taylor Syner. He was also preceded in death by his brother Paul Syner.
He was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was Pastor of Marfrance Church of God at Quinwood and he had pastored and evangelized for 42 years in southern West Virginia. He was a retired miner from Central Appalachian Coal Company, a member of UMWA and former parts man at Brown Chevrolet in Montgomery.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years Sharon Parsons Syner; children Thomas Syner and wife Gina of Grove Part, Ohio, Teresa Syner Peal of Stephens City, VA, Sam Syner and wife Shawndale of Kimberly and Angela Wills and husband Scott of Smithers; brothers Clyde Syner of Ravenswood and Orville Syner of Charleston; sister Jo Ann Sparks of Charleston; 8 grandchildren.
Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Leonard Nichols and Rev. Leroy Martin officiating. Friends may call from 6 until 9 on Tuesday at the funeral. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com.
