Obituary for Katherine Bowyer (Pratt)
Katherine (Pratt) Bowyer, 94, of Standard, West Virginia, departed this world to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 30, 2023, while surrounded by her immediate family. She was born on November 4, 1929, in Jere, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Milia Pratt of San Giovani in Fiore, Calabria, Italy. She was the youngest of eight children who have preceded her in death: Matilda Navarro, Phillip Prete, Samuel Pratt, Mary Pratt, Francis Jameson, Johnny Pratt, and Jimmy Pratt. She is also preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Bowyer, Sr., and son-in-law Eugene Cales.
She was the devoted wife to her late husband of 70 years, and loving mother to her four surviving children: Edith Ann Cales of Standard, WV; Howard Lee (Judy) of New Port Beach, California; Matilda Louise of Standard, WV; and Carl Joseph (Brenda) of Pratt, WV. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Tracey (Robert) Guerrant, David (Kerri) Cales, Amy (Matthew) Mitchell, Charlie (Misty) Bowyer, Erika Carroll, Valerie (Andrew) Jones, along with her great grandchildren: Haley, Michael, Geneva, Bella, Samuel, Elijah, Waylon, Anslee, and Ashtyn.
She loved to laugh, cook, play card games, and go on family vacations to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandkids, and great grandkids.
She was a faithful member of the Gallagher Church of the Nazarene.

Service will be 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Daniel Saylor and Rev. Matthew Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow. Friends will be received at O’Dell Funeral home in Montgomery, WV, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, between 6-8 pm.
