Kathleen Smith Phillips age 91, a Montgomery resident since 1940died January 12, 2012. She was born February 3, 1921 at Hiwhatha, WV and she was the daughter of the late Roy and Dulsia Powers Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Roy Napier and second husband Goody Phillips; step-sons Pete Phillips and Larry Phillips; sisters Blanche M. Taylor, Grace E. Goins Ethel Helwig Strickland and Mary Francis Smith and brother Carl Smith.
She was former co-owner of Phillips Plumbing in Montgomery and former owner of Ward Theater at Ward. She was a member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church and she attended Montgomery High School, Morris Harvey College and West Virginia Institute of Technology.
Surviving: nephew Rodney A. Taylor of Smithers, daughter-in-laws; Leah Phillips and Dorothy Phillips; grandchildren Heather Preston, Kevin Phillips, Sigrid Riley, Deborah Phillips, Stephanie Franckewitz and Scottie Phillips; 6 step grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren, 2 additional nephews, and one niece.
Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Glasgow with Pastor Kari Preslar officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel.
