Obituary for Khadidra LaShaun "Peaches" Taylor

Khadidra LaShaun "Peaches" Taylor, born on June 26, 1981 and received her angel wings at 7:35 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Charleston Memorial Hospital. She fought her illness for over 31 years with the same grace and dignity that she lived her life.

Khadidra received her education at DuPont and Riverside High Schools, later attending Marshall and West Virginia State University. She earned two degrees in Criminal Justice and a degree in Social Work. She was a licensed Social Worker. She worked for WV DHHR as an adoption specialist. She also worked for Riverside Nursing Home as Director of Social Services and was also a part-time employee of Kohl's Department Store and part-time contract work for Senior Services.

True to her own history of helping others, Khadidra's most rewarding aspect of her job was the opportunity to help children. She stated that "If you make even a small difference in their life it can affect them down the road, it's like a domino effect, it will affect the next person and the next person!"

Khadidra is preceded in death by her niece Tianna Grace Skiles-Taylor, grandparents, James and Annabelle Clements and Edgar Taylor, Jr. Her aunt Carol Coad, Uncles Paul Clements, Robert, Gerald, Eric and Edgar Taylor, III.

Peaches leaves to cherish her memory, parents Russell and Debora Taylor of Rand, brother Russell "Rusty" Taylor of Saint Albans, grandmothers Lillie Pearl Taylor of Kimberly and Linda Taylor of Charleston; her cherished dogs Doche' and Gabanna, and the greatest joys in her life was her nieces and nephews Malachi and Amani Taylor, Aliyah Aliff, Elijah, Jaylyn and Kaylee Skiles and her Godson Deontae Hamilett. She also leaves behind her aunts; Lillie Ann of Kimberly, Susan of Charleston, Beverly of Dunbar, Barbara of North Carolina and Priscilla Taylor of Atlanta. Gwen Avery of Maryland, Joyce Hunter of Nitro, Beverly Bowers, Karen and Elizabeth Smith all of Rand, Marvelene Smith of Columbus and Faye Bashir of Atlanta. Uncles; Larry, Rick, Lewis (Debbie) Taylor all of Charleston, Tim (Valerie) Taylor of Dunbar, Abdul (Ethel) Bashir of Richmond, Qareeb Bashir and Andrew (Karen) Smith of Atlanta, Richard and Thomas Clements (Gwen Drake) of Rand and Lamont Brown of Dunbar. Her special sisters Frances Hamilett, Vickie Skiles, Joy Kitchens, Debby Gatewood and Tiffany Herdsman. Her cousins whom she treated as her very own daughters, Bri'Anna Bass, Karaeah Roberts and Ronneisa Smith. and a host of other family and friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Stephen Grubb, Dr. William Sale and Dr. Phil Pfister, "Thank you for the special care you have given our daughter for the past 31 years." Special thanks to nurses Mary Ellen and Kevin at CAMC. And thank you to Dr. Shaffery and the University of Virginia Spine Center and Dr. Mailk for giving her hope!

Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2016 from 6-8PM at Levi First Baptist Church, 5125 Church Dr. in Rand. Home going service will be noon Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury Street, Charleston, WV with Rev. Charles Collins, Sr. and Rev. William I. Kinney officiating.
