Lola Mae (Simpson) Martin, age 94, of Kimberly, WV, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2012, at Montgomery General Hospital - Extended Care Unit. She was born in 1918 at Wallins Creek, Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late Lewis and Lucinda (Hensley) Simpson.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Luther Martin and by sisters; Lissie, Rillie, Polly, Louise and Clarkie, brothers; Gilbert, Chester, William, Clellan, and Warren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a member of the Smithers Church of God having served as a Sunday School teacher and in the Ladies Ministries.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jerry (Charlotte) of Mt. Nebo, Thomas (Annabelle Sue) of Poca, Phillip (Karen) of Ansted, Linda (Ronald) of Kimberly; grandchildren: Deborah (Charles) Hill, Angela (Matthew) Tackett, Diane Carawan, Keith (Aissa) Martin; great-grandchildren: Kristin (Frank) Faust, Jordan, Zackary, Austin, Jacob, Justin, and Wesley Hill, Mara Lewis, Rebecca and Samantha Tackett, Danielle and Robert Carawan; great-great grandson: Frankie Faust, and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend its appreciation to the staff of the MGH Extended Care Unit and Dr. Felipe Jugo for their loving care of our mother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 23, 2012, at O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV, with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
