Obituary for Louise Marie Daniels

Louise Marie Daniels, 92, of Charlotte, NC (formerly of Montgomery, WV), passed away at home with her loving nephew, Patrick Hernandez, and niece, Angie Williams, by her side, after a short battle with breast cancer.

Louise was born in Winifrede, WV on February 22, 1925, to Mamie Kirk Massey and Wayne Massey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving companion for over 40 years, John Young; brother, Bob Massey, sisters Ella Mae Massey, Virginia Hicks, Doris Camp, and Lynda McClung.

Louise is survived by her three sons; Franklin Adkins (Suzanne) of Fayetteville, NC, Ira Daniels (Judy) of Pratt, WV, and Gary Daniels (Susan) of Chelyan, WV; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Heater of Alderson, WV, and several nieces and nephews.

Louise had a passion for playing poker, which she played for most of her life. She continued to enjoy friendly family card games up until a month before her death. She loved watching World Wide Wrestling every chance she got and her favorite thing to eat was anything with chocolate. In fact, the last thing she was able to eat was chocolate ice cream. Louise was surprisingly healthy for her age until her diagnosis of breast cancer in January 2017. She was a very strong, resilient woman who had a huge soft spot for animals. She would often make two PB&J sandwiches at lunch – one for her and one for her furry companion, Ruby.

The family thanks Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, NC. A special thank you goes to her Hospice nurse, Deanna, for her compassion and support during Louise’s final months. They would also like to thank O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV for their specialized care in handling Louise’s funeral arrangements.

A graveside service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the Chapel at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, WV with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
