Margaret Lily “Pete” Tackett age 84 of Longacre died November 5, 2011 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington. She was born February 21, 1927 at Pine Knob, WV and was the daughter of the late James P. Walker and the late Dora Walker Clonch. She was also preceded in death by her son Robert Stanley “Buddy” Tackett and brothers Harford I. Walker and Jeffrey B. “JB” Walker.
She was a longtime member of the Campbell Memorial Baptist Church in Longacre and she loved quilting and cooking.
Surviving is her loving husband of 65 years Bert Tackett; children Shelia Madison and her husband Roland of Solon, Ohio and Bert Tackett Jr. of Longacre; brothers James Kenny Walker of Fayetteville, NC and William Douglas Walker of Beckley; sisters Shirley A. Rogers of Cleveland, Ohio, Phyllis D. Surratt of Brunswick, OH, Carolyn S. Walker of Bunn, NC and Ruth Ellen O’Dell of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Kimberly, Amy and Brielle; great grandchildren Abby and Taylor and much loving family and many loving friends and neighbors.
Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Chester Bird officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com.
