Obituary for Michael C. Tolliver

Michael Tolliver
Mike (Muggy) 61 of Smithers, WV died on December 8, 2010 at his home in Smithers WV with his wife, children, family and many friends at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an elder and former pioneer in the Montgomery Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Smithers, WV. He enjoyed sharing Bible truths about Jehovah’s God’s Kingdom in the surrounding communities.
He retired from Verizon Telephone Company after 32 years of services as a splicing technician at the age of 52. However, the accomplishment that he was most proud of was being able to serve as an Elder in the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was especially proud to be a part of building a brand new Kingdom Hall in Smithers two years ago. He dearly loved spending time with his very special friends in the ministry.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald Tolliver, mother Lillian Tolliver, Maternal grandmother Maggie Killion and grandfather Omega Killion; Paternal grandmother Mary Tolliver and grandfather Ollie Tolliver.
Mike was a very devoted, loving, kind, generous husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved vacations at Virginia Beach with his family. He is survived by a loving wife and best friend for 40 years Janet (Jan) Tolliver, daughters Twana Tolliver of Boomer, WV; Tara White and husband Jeremy of South Charleston, WV; son Michael Timothy Tolliver and wife Samantha of Boomer, WV. Grandsons, Nathan Tolliver of Buckhannon, WV; Brody White of South Charleston, WV; granddaughter Kylie Marie of South Charleston, WV, Amya Obey of Boomer, WV; brothers Donald Tolliver and wife Johanna of Morgantown, WV; Greg Tolliver and wife Linda of Charleston, sisters Cheryl Watkins and husband Robert of Boomer, WV; Deidre Wolford and husband Russell; cousin (raised as brothers) Theopolis Killion of Chicago; Aunt Margaret Tolliver of New Jersey and cousin Christine Saunders, Aunt Beatrice Nutter of Columbus, Ohio along with an extended beautiful special family of nieces, nephews, cousins and a wonderful brotherhood of friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, WV 25136 on Saturday, December 11, 2010 with Elder Joe Bentley Jr. officiating.
