Mildred M. Hazelwood age 85 of Hansford died May 30, 2014 at home. She was born December 17, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Sarah Canterbury Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Hazelwood, brothers James Miller, William Miller, Robert Miller, Raymond Miller and Kenneth Paul Miller.


Retired Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from Montgomery General Hospital and formerly worked for C & O railway. She was a graduate of Montgomery High School, West Virginia Institute of Technology School of Nursing, received a Board of Regents Bachelor of Arts from the West Virginia Board of Regents and her Anesthesia degree from the Charleston Area Medical Center School of Anesthesia.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Hazelwood, brothers James Miller, William Miller, Robert Miller, Raymond Miller and Kenneth Paul Miller.

She is survived by her daughters Kiena Smith and Leslie Smith both of Charleston. Grandchildren Joshua Smith -Shimer (Brittany Vascik) of Charleston, Dr. Maggie Coffield (Josh) of Charleston. Sister Sue Martin of Hansford, Avoline Warden of York, Virginia, Betty Hannah of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Cleveland and brother Thomas Miller of New Haven, Indiana. Special niece and nephew Andrea Craven (Todd) of Fuquay Varina,NC and Michael Martin (Nanette) of Charleston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hansford, WV. with Fr. Stan Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call at O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 2nd.
