Obituary for Odbert Junior Dorsey

Odbert Junior Dorsey of Powellton went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2010 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington. He was born December 2, 1931 to the late Odbert Dorsey and Grace Foster Pritt and also step-father Ted Pritt.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Delbert Dorsey, sister Barbara Schoolcraft, infant granddaughter Susan Renae Dorsey and great-granddaughter Jean Ann Elizabeth “Annie” Dorsey.
He was a retired coal miner for many years and he was a member of the Belle Creek Pentecostal Church in Dixie. He loved his family very much and enjoyed all the family gatherings. He also loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing many musical instruments with his family and at church.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years Madeline Pritt Dorsey; sons Bill R. Dorsey, Dennis G. Dorsey and his wife Pat of Powellton and Frankie Lee Dorsey of East Bank; daughters JoAnn Foster of Gallagher, Delila “Dee Dee” Miller and her husband Jay of Glasgow; brothers James R. Dorsey of Mt. Olive, Bill Dorsey of Powellton and Roger Pritt and his wife Nancy of Summersville; grandchildren Bill Landon Dorsey, Odbert R Foster and his wife Erica, Becky Ridenour, Dennis L “DL” Dorsey and his wife Mary, Travis Dorsey and his wife Tabitha, Jessica Dorsey, Kevin Dorsey and their mother Melissa, LeAnn Vermillion and Chandler Scott Vermillion; great grandchildren Logan and Maci Foster, Alexis Ridenour, Zach Dorsey and Colton & Madelyn “Maddy” Dorsey; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family wishes to thank all those, who are like family, of the O’Dell Funeral Home family.
Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Lee Holiday and Rev. Harlan Pritt officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow.
