Odessa Lee Mimms age 96 of Montgomery died December 4, 2013. She was born June 4, 1917 at Kaymoor and was the daughter of the late Walter and Morn Hawkins Medley. She was also preceded in death by her children Hulin "Peter" Mimms, Martha Louise Wheeler, Francis Dale Mimms, Dennis Mimms and Judy Mimms.

She was a lifelong member of Carbondale Missionary Baptist Church where she served as usher and Sunday school teacher, a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Montgomery, member of the NAACP and she was retired from Laird Memorial Hospital, Montgomery with 32 years of service.

Surviving: children Annie Wheeler of Montgomery, Paula Barker of Atlanta, GA, Billy Mimms of Montgomery and adopted daughter Lashawn Mimms Hamilton of Winston Salem, NC; sister Kathleen Goins of Columbus, OH; 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Carbondale Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park at Ingram Branch. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church.
