Obituary for Robert Dale Flanagan
Robert Dale Flanagan, 88, of Smithers, WV, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, on December 16, 2023. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur & Lucille Flanagan, and in laws Gordon & Ethel Hayes, brother Gene Flanagan, brother-in-law Thomas Hayes, & daughter, Debra Flanagan Shuler.
Dale is survived by his wife Dolores Hayes Flanagan. Children Patricia (Mike), Jeff, & daughter-in-law Katrina Daniels, and son-in-law Tim Shuler (Debbie - Deceased) Grand children, Scott Shuler (Brandi), Kelly Shuler Butcher (Allen), Chad Flanagan (Erin), Andrew Flanagan, Laura Werts Christian (Samuel), & Benjamin Flanagan (Ashlie). Great-grandkids JayLynn Hatfield (Timothy), Timothy Shuler, Issac & Claire Butcher, and Riley & Nash Flanagan. Great-great grandchildren, Gabriel Hatfield & Cayden Christian, Sisters Betty Turner, Elaine Carnwarth (Robin), & Shirley Dayton (John), brother and sister-In-laws Joetta Hayes, Earl Hayes (Jeannie), Ben Hayes (Libby), Wanda Dickson, Eldrige Short, Jack Hayes (Sherry), & many nephews and nieces.
Dale retired from the US Postal Service and owner of Dale’s Photography studio.
Dale served and was a veteran of the US Army. He was involved in church his whole life and a true disciple of Christ.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the CAMC Cancer Center, & Kanawha Hospice Care, both who gave great care.
Memorials or donations may be made in honor of Dale to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, WV 25312-2536.
Visitation will be held at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery on Saturday, December 23, 2023, from 10am-11am. Funeral service will be from 11am-12pm with Eulogist Jeff Flanagan. Burial will follow at the “End of Trail” cemetery in Clintonville, WV. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
