Obituary for Rufus M. Simpson
Rufus M. Simpson, 94, of Mt. Olive went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. He attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Vesta Simpson, his wife Etta Simpson, two son’s Rufus and Paul Allen Simpson, one daughter Debra Lynn, one grandson Josh Simpson and son-in-law Bob Holmes.
He was a retired coal miner of 43 years from Cannelton Coal. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his children Emma Holmes of Mt. Olive, Andy (Judy) Simpson of Mt. Olive, Mike (Vicky) Simpson of Mt. Olive, daughter-in-law Lucy Simpson of Elkview, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his caregivers Bob Pritt, Renee, Jerry Whitlock, and Jerry Wiseman for all their help.
Service will at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow.
