Ruth McClure McCann 81 of Boomer went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2010 at her home after suffering with Lou Gerhig’s disease.
Ruth was born in Glasgow on November 25, 1928 and she was the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Ida F. McClure. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years. Cecil McCann and by a brother Roger McClure.
Ruth was a 1947 graduate of East Bank High School. She retired from Peoples Life Security Insurance Company with 35 years service and took early retirement to care for her elderly parents.
Left behind to cherish her loving memory are her son Stanley and Betty Jo Garten of Mt. Carbon; grandson Chris and Katie Garten of Glasgow; granddaughter Amanda Garten of Mt. Carbon; and her special great grandson Gavin Garten. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Wilcox of Youngstown, OH and Joanne Arthur of Indianapolis. IN.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Sherry Howard, Brenda Young, Angela Young and Jessica Siders for their special care during Ruth’s illness. Thanks also goes to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at O’Dell Funeral Home with Rev. John Massey officiating. Entombment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Monday at the funeral home.
